Puerto Rico’s nightlife has a lot to offer.

When the sun sets, the island of Puerto Rico springs to life with a vibrancy that is sure to appeal to anyone that enjoys dancing, live music, casino gaming and a party-like atmosphere. Puerto Rico’s rich nightlife might seem a little daunting at first, but don’t worry; we’ve got three tips to help you get started.

Tip #1: Location Location Location!

Concentrate on a specific San Juan district to go club hopping. The Condado area features many large resorts, such as the beachfront La Concha Hotel, which has elaborate club and casino combinations that draws in tourists and locals. You can grab a bite to eat at Budatai Restaurant and then wander around from spot to spot. Right next door, in Isla Verde, you will find sprawling resorts that have high-energy nightclubs and fast-paced gaming, such as Club Brava in the El San Juan Hotel. Old San Juan is home to small venues that offer up live music in an intimate, historical setting.  Rio Piedras has several large, upscale clubs that are usually packed with students from the local university.

Tip #2 Dress to Impress

One of the biggest dilemmas that you will face when you decide to experience the nightlife in Puerto Rico is what to wear. Must clubs do not have a dress code, but locals and tourists seem to enjoy dressing up, so you will want to pick a trendy outfit and don a pair of shoes that are comfortable, because the dancing usually goes on until 5 am at the local hot spots. If you are in the mood for a bit of salsa dancing, head to Old San Juan and let the mixology experts fix you a refreshing cocktail at the La Factoría Bar which won the distinction of being voted one of the World’s 50 Best Bars 2015.

Tip #3: Make the most out of each day

Don’t wait for Friday or Saturday night to enjoy Puerto Rico’s nightlife! Weekdays are just as hopping as the weekend, and you can often score a few perks by clubbing mid-week such as free salsa lessons at many of the clubs, as well as drink specials and cheaper appetizers.
